Etre [eh-truh] : French verb meaning "to be". This is the most simple and truthful thing any of us is capable of.
With Etre, my goal is to capture your cherished and important moments in an honest and truthful way through my lens. In short I strive to capture you...simply being you.

Keegan // Portraits

Oh my goodness... what I wouldn't give to be a kid again!
No worries, no responsibilities, no fear of being yourself in front of ANY audience...
Camille hired me to capture her adorable godson Keegan, as a gift to his mom (her best friend) for her birthday.
Genius idea to give photos as gifts in my opinion, and these turned out so perfectly.

He played the bashful card for about two seconds, but it didn't take long for him to start flashing the dimpled smile and sea-blue eyes at me. I can't even express how happy it made me to play even a small part in helping to create such a sweet birthday gift. (I'm a HUGE fan of birthdays for those who don't know me well.)
He loves loves loves the water, so we hunted down some puddles
and got down to business demolishing them.
Little boy + squirt gun...need I say more? After finding the squirt gun, everything else became pretty irrelevant.
This last image is my absolute favorite!
It captures so much of what childhood should be...joy, and silliness, and a little bit of trouble making.

Alex, Senior Portraits | Utah Lake

When we got out of the car to start shooting, Alex told me, "We don't have to take like hundreds of pictures or anything." Yeah, I failed miserably at this request...but for good reason!

Smile: perfect, attitude: perfect, natural posing: perfect. Perfection isn't something you only take a few pictures of!!!

The pop of her purple cardie went SO well with the deep green in these alfalfa fields.

Maybe it's because I personally can not read a single note of music that I find it so AMAZING and beautiful when other people (like Alex) can.
Fellas, she's SINGLE and about to graduate from high school.

Isabel, Senior Portraits | Downtown Pleasant Grove

Isabel is the most bubbly and happy girl I have ever photographed. It was almost too easy to catch her genuine emotion and adorable laughter in camera.

Springtime | Preview

I have recently spent two afternoons in the company of some seriously fabulous ladies.
Besides having a blast with each these girls during their shoots, I LOVED being able to spend time outside without freezing my fingers off (still haven't figured out how to shoot with mittens on), and I LOVED finally seeing colors other than brown and pine tree green.
It is officially Springtime in Utah!

Happy Spring, and more to come of both Alex and Isabel!

Emotional Oscar Wilde | Creative Shoot, Lehi, Ut

I had really been wanting to do a creative shoot where each of my subjects represented a portion of some bigger picture. Like the 7 deadly sins, or the 4 seasons, or stereotypes, or fruits (haha yeah fruits totally popped into my head in the primary stages. Don't judge. Who wouldn't naturally long to take pictures of people representing fruits? Oopah.) Anyway, I had had this idea for a shoot in the back of my brain for a few weeks, and when I came across this quote, I knew what to do... and it was WAY better than grapes and watermelon.

“I don't want to be at the mercy of my emotions. I want to use them, to enjoy them, and to dominate them". -Oscar Wilde

I knew I wanted to shoot EMOTION. 4 gorgeous girlfriends of mine, and one incredible hair and makeup artist helped pull the shoot together. Check it.

Joy, rage, serenity, and despair each have a rightful place in everyone's life. I love fantastic Mr. Wilde's vote that we are genius enough to use, enjoy, and dominate these emotions to benefit our lives.

If we're going to be all emotional and junk, we might as well embrace it!

I loved loved loved hanging out with these emotional girls all afternoon. Photo shoots are such prime bonding time.

Mustache March | PGHS, Pleasant Grove, UT

In honor of Mustache March (an ingenious charity movement),  I HAD to blog this shoot before March disappeared for another 12 months. Max is running for Student Body President at PGHS and his campaign slogan is "Stay Classy PG". What better way to show class than sport a mustache?!

Max is equal parts stud, upstanding citizen, and goofball. His photos turned out great!

 How classy is THIS guy!

T I D B I T: "Mustaches have always been politically-charged. They've been banned by kings, forbidden by employers and used as a form of protest. The popularity of mustaches has ebbed and waned throughout the ages, and in America today we find our self at a low point of mustache-acceptance. What better way to start a cultural movement than to embrace an unpopular social practice in attempt to raise money for charity?" -mustache march

Lindsey K. | Alpine,UT

Linds is my old time all time buckaroo. She is also a natural born model who has been more of a support to me than the world could ever know.  Ya know.

Sometimes words are worthless. They can be too complicated or inadequate or misspelled.
Sometimes words are unnecessary. Today pictures are enough.
